The Top 3 Questions Your Co-workers are Secretly Asking

We’re excited to have you for this week’s edition of the Relational Intelligence at Work newsletter.

The primary goal of this newsletter is to support you on your personal growth journey and to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to excel as a leader.

The quality of your decision-making determines the trajectory of your life and business.

If you’re a part of a team or organization, the trajectory of the organization is directly determined by the team leader’s ability to harness the superpowers and perspectives of everyone on the team.

In executive meetings where the majority of big decisions are being made, it’s the collective nature of these different perspectives that allows for the greatest outcomes.

But what if you don’t have access to all of the different perspectives in the room?

That’s why we created the “5 Voices for Teams” program here at GiANT

(Take the 5 Voices assessment HERE if you’re not familiar)

While those with Nurturer and Guardian Foundational Voices make up 73% of the population, most executive teams have no Nurturers (43%) and an occasional Guardian (30%).

It’s not that executive teams can’t function without having each Foundational Voice physically represented.

It’s about having an awareness of which Foundational Voices are missing and making sure you honor the perspectives, insights and challenges they would bring.

This is essentially what the “5 Voices Decision-Making Filters” tool helps you do.

So, before you press “Go” on a key strategy or important decision, ask the questions the “Missing Foundational Voices” would ask and take time to answer them honestly as a team.

Nurturers:

  • How will this decision impact people?

  • Are we compromising our values?

  • Who is going to hate this?


Creatives:

  • Are we in danger of playing it too safe?

  • Are we compromising our integrity?

  • Does this help us achieve our bigger vision?


Guardians:

  • Have we done sufficient due diligence?

  • Have we run a robust pilot project?

  • Is it worth the investment of time and money?


Connectors:

  • Will this connect with our target audience?

  • Who in our network can help make this better?

  • Do I believe in this and can I “sell” it?


Pioneers:

  • How will this help us win?

  • If it is successful, will it scale?

  • Why won’t this work?

If as a team you are brave enough to answer these questions honestly, you will dramatically improve the quality of your decision-making, ultimately saving you both time and money.

Here at GiANT, we challenge you to use the “Missing Foundational Voice” questions in your team meetings for 3 months and see what happens!
